Katie came home from work a few weeks ago and wanted to know if I’d be interested in designing a t-shirt for UBC Botanical Garden, where she’s the Marketing and Communications Manager. The Garden just launched their Young Explorers Summer Day Camp, and was looking for a t-shirt for the kids to wear. The only catch to this t-shirt design… It needed to be done as soon as possible so that it could go out to the printer the next day. We both had a bit of work to do that night, but I took a few minutes and put together a few different concepts to choose from. First thing the following morning, a few of the staff selected this design as the winner, and the artwork was emailed over to the printer right away.
The staff liked the new design so much they ordered additional sizes so that they could have some too. The design was printed on 100% organic cotton shirts using a ‘discharge’ technique where the graphic is bleached into the shirt, as opposed to printing ink that sits on top of the shirt. Sounds like the kids are loving them too, so if they’re happy – I’m happy.
Above are a couple photos of the final printed shirt.
